I'm currently looking for a CPU hsf for a more aesthetic look than the stock ryzen 5 fan.

My choices right now are

-Hyper 212 BE

-Gammaxx GT/GTE

- ID Cooling SE224

If you guys can give suggestions it would be very much appreciated. I actually dont care about rgb that much but its a plus, also black edition suggestions ike the Hyper 212 are very very much appreciated.

Bet you can find a wraith prism or max off eBay for a good price

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

So this is just aesthetics?  Anything that works as well as the stock fan is fine?

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Gammaxx GT is better than any kind of Hyper 212, and it has decent RGB, considering you care about aesthetic.

You can get a wreath prism for $30 USD or less any day of the week used, and the max is sold new for $37.99

Perhaps OP isn't from the US, the shipping cost + waiting time (if he cares about that) could be a problem. Because Wraith Prism and Max aren't sold for that price in every country's local market, not even on AliExpress.

Since OP uses $50 USD in the topic title, I have to assume USD pricing unless otherwise specified.

@heyfritzzapie are you buying from the United States? If not, please don't use USD as a metric.

Uhm maybe? But i also want something that performs well for the price.

Specializaion makes specialization. Something designed for aesthetics won’t work as well as something designed for performance and visa versa.  You can get both at the high end, but this isn’t the high end.
there are 4 factors for cooling:

noise

performance

aesthetics

price.

generally you get to pick 2.  Maybe 2.5.

you are apparently picking aesthetics and price with bonus for whatever performance is available.

aesthetics is a hard one.  They’re different for everyone.  “aesthetic” tower coolers tend to be high end.  Tower coolers tend to be ugly.

If you’re not going to overclock Performance is irrelevant.  All you need is equivalent to stock.

there are several Chinese down firing RGB coolers that while they aren’t any better than stock also aren’t any worse.  Lots of shiny RGB though.  You might even be able to get away with just a cooler fan change. Something that clips on top of your existing heat sink.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Im buying from the US idc about the shipping as long as the hsf itself is below 50 USD

The aesthetic part for me isnt rgb anyway. I like black editions (noctua chromax but too pricey for me) i also plan to overclock thats why i want an aftermarket one.

Which one is better?  I'm thinking of doing that myself for the nice AMD RGB bling lol!

But then again I'm not sure this is a good idea my 3600 sits now at 54C max while gaming (and maximum auto boost of 3.950MHz on all cores) and I don't want to make it worse haha...

Ok so black, and something that will allow an overclock, and cheap. RGB better than no RGB.

which ryzen 5?

Its the 2600 doe but yeah what ever i buy i'll still use if i upgrade to zen 2

I ask because the 1600, 2600, and 3600 have different and decreasing overclockability.  I personally don’t consider a 3600 to be worth bothering with overclocking.  The gain is too marginal to be worth the effort.

a 2600 can apparently be gotten to 4.1 ghz according to what I am seeing on the net.

Maybe not to 4.1. I’m not sure what it took to get it there.  Might have been a lot.

Okay now i thought of it would it be better if i add a little bit and get an aio or not??

I’m not fond of AIOs myself.  There are advantages and disadvantages over an equivalent tdp aircooler

advantages:

-simpler setup.  You don’t have to think about case air much

-more resistant to movement

disadvantage:

-they break eventually (the thing I don’t like)

-more expensive

- usually(merely often?) noisier

People like it. I’be heard it’s fine.  You need black though, so it may be the best option.
