Help with new Ryzen build

Slurrie

Hi all,

So it's been awhile since the last time I built a PC, seems a lot has changed since then so needing some advice / confirmation the below parts are all ok.

1. Budget & Location

Budget is around Rp 20,000,000 give or take (USD 1,450 | CAD 1,877)

Location: Jakarta, Indonesia. Part pricing/availability here is a bit different compared to the US

Already a little over my initial budget due to the case but that's ok. Never really got the whole RGB thing until I started watching vids and looking at builds :D

1 USD = approx Rp 14,000. yeah currency sucks here :P

2. Aim

System will be used for gaming, browsing, excel, some website stuff etc.

Been playing mostly on PS4 for the past couple of years as my current system can't really handle any thing else now.

TBH not really sure which games just yet, games I've played on PS4 recently are: Sekiro, Dark Souls 3, Nioh, Bloodborne, Horizon Zero Dawn, Destiny, Assassins Creed: Odyssey.

3. Monitors

Just the 1 monitor which I might need to upgrade at some point, if/when I do then potentially 2 monitors if I can't find a use for the existing one.
Current monitor is an Asus vg248qe (about 5-6 years old now)

4. Peripherals

Peripherals I already have, may need to pickup a new Windows key depending on what I do with my old machine but that would be outside of this budget.
Keyboard is the Corsair K70, hence the case selection, thought it would be easier keeping it as much Corsair as I can for the iCue software.

5. Why are you upgrading?

Mainly 2 reasons.
1. my current computer is around 5-6 years old already, I can play WoW Classic in medium settings but can't really run anything else at this point (hence the PS4)
2. partly for some fun and a change, after watching a bunch of vids on LTT, GN etc seemed like a fun time to look at getting back into it.

Not sure what to do on the cooling side.
I looked at the Corsair AIO  (Hyrdro H150i) but it uses ML fans as opposed to the LL fans which come in the case which from my understanding will cause issues in iCue due to different models.
Should the stock cooler be enough with the 3 case fans + 3 extra fans or should i get something like the Dark Rock 4 etc?.

Jakarta is pretty hot, pretty much around 30'C and 70% humidity 24/7. AC is normally only on during the late afternoon/night. The computer in located in the lounge-room which is a pretty big open space with high ceilings if that makes any difference

Anyway, here's what I have so far.

Looks great, wouldn't change anything. Your case seems very expensive, but if that's what you like, go for it.

Cool, thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, I was tossing up between this and the Corsair 220t which is quite a bit cheaper.
I like both but the 500D SE won out on the looks + it comes with the commander pro already, also the bigger size to build in, the 220t just seemed a little tight with not much room in the back.

careful with b450 boards and 3000series ryzen, u might need to have som1 flash it for u or get a flashchip ( in most cases u do need to flash it )

Max is Zen 2 ready out of the box so no worries here :)

But the B450 Tomahawk is not technically "out of the box" compatible. it does need a later BIOS.

It needs at least V18 or V19.

Yeah the standard B450 Tomahawk needs a bios flash while the Max is already done, atleast from what I read which is why I went for the Max.

Thanks for the heads up though.
