Deal on 1080 ti

For the first time, 1080ti used market has dropped to 500 euros around here. Now the question is, would you consider upgrading to an already previous gen top tier card anymore considering it might not be that long for a new generation.

 

Current card is gtx 1070 so an upgrade is not a must.

If you don't have a way to make money out of your "old" GPU i think the 1080ti is not worth the 500€.

In this case it would make more sense to wait for a new generation.

The rtx 2070 is above 500 euro on average so a 1080 ti, which is more on par with a 2080, is a great deal.

Currently I could get 200€ for the 1070 and I would still be undercutting other sellers

Not necessarily. A 2070S is around 520 euro.

It performs at a couple percent more than a GTX 1080 ti, and it has some extra (albeit RTX is pretty useless) features, such as a new NVENC encoder and tensor cores

How much is the 5700XT for you?  I'd look into that personally.

Around here cheapest 2070S is 560€ new if not buying used, and the used market is still really small for those cards

Alright if the rumours are to be believed, next gen is coming in 2020 so I guess I'm selling my 1070 while I still can get something other than a pizza with the price and buckle up for a bumpy ride till next gen launch

Raytracing... it is going to be the next big thing if you like it or not. even on Raytracing that doesnt use the RT cores RTX cards still outperform GTX cards(look at the neon nior test)

 

optimising like all cards RTX cards will get more optimisation so will last longer then a GTX

A 2070 won't push ray tracing to decent enough fps for the resolutions you're buying the card for.  Are you predicting HUGE optimizations to bring RT performance up to no loss?

 

In 3 years, they will still both perform comparatively as they do now.

Compared to a GTX card it will. 

So why not an older card when you can get a newer card for a little more
