3700x vs i9 9900K future gaming/gpus

xxx68

Hello, in terms of future-proofness what is better choice for 1440p 144Hz gaming ? Ryzen 3700x or i9 9900K ? I would prefer ryzen because of the price. But i9 9900K is little better when in comes to gaming already, would´t the gap between the two be even bigger when more powerful gpus than rtx 2080ti come out ? THX

3700x because it is not too far in gaming and productivity against Intel plus you will be able to upgrade to 3900x or 3950x on the same motherboard.

Both 3700x and 9900k can handle rtx 2080ti very good.

The 3700X with 3600mhz Cl16 RAM should do just fine at it's lower price.

The gap is always going to stay the same.

Your CPU limits your max fps/refresh rate

your GPU limits your resolution/quality settings.

If you're building a whole new PC what's your budget/country, and current monitor resolution/refresh rate?

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Long as you drop a few settings in games like shadows/reflections/AA you should be able to hold onto that 1080ti for a while if you're only gaming at 1440p.

If you don't need wifi this board's VRM is plenty.

You'll have to look into either overclocking that memory, or buying a 16GB * 2 kit, as 2 sticks is easier to run at higher speeds, but the memory stuff gets complicated pretty fast.
