First Time Build

Tlee

Laptop is dying, so I'm planning on building a PC for the first time. I live in the US and have a budget of about $1000 dollars. I play a lot of video games, specifically League of Legends, Digital card games, and other easy to run esports titles, as well as some space sims like Elite and some strategy games, but I'd like to be able to play most new releases at medium settings at least. I'd like to be able to have 2 monitors in the future, but I don't have the budget to buy 2 right now. I also would like to be able to do some casual streaming. I have a basic list put together but I'm not very confident in it. The case is just a placeholder, I don't want my PC to look like it's from the 1970's but what's more important is that it's easy to build in since this is my first build. I'm picking parts off of limited knowledge so if any of this build could be better at $1000 I'd really appreciate the advice.

Welcome to the forum!

What you've specced out looks pretty solid to me, though I would suggest you look at a higher-rated but lower-power rating power supply, for example an 80+ Gold rated ones. If I'm that vague, however, I'm going to get screamed at by someone ?

Could you send a link to the parts list you created so we can more easily mess with it?

Sig under construction.

If you only want to do lighter games, you don't necessarily need that much hardware power.

You could easily do something lower end in terms of CPU and GPU. I'd say even a GTX 1650 would work (or the rumored RX 5500)

That's what I'm currently playing but I want this PC to last a while and I don't plan on buying a next gen console so I want to be able to play new releases as well.

Is there not a link to the list in my original post? I think there is.

Solid Build. I approve! But i would personally stay away from the 5700 and get a 2060 based on anecdotal evidence of it being plagued by driver issues+running hot! Im sure they will resolve most issues with updates but still

As he said, the 5700 does get pretty hot, the 2060 is losing 2gb of vram but there won't be a difference in performance, my build has 1gb of vram and its there really isnt a difference between my gaming laptop with 3gb with a similar processor and i didnt notice a difference, except for a few buffers with my 1gb rig i currently use.

I hadn't really heard that. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but when I search 2060 there's like 10 results. What card are you talking about specifically?

any rtx 2060 really, get the cheapest one. I have had good experience with MSI and Gigabyte.

The 5700/XT only runs hot if you buy a blower card or one with a bad cooler like the MSI Evoke. The Sapphire Nitro or Powercolor Red Devil for example do not run hot.

I'm gonna be honest, I didn't realize there were different versions of the same graphics card. Honestly that's a little confusing. Aren't they all the 5700? Why are there so many? What's different about them?

Yes they are all RX 5700 gpu's but there are different versions. You have the standard blower cooler and then you have aftermarket versions like the one below which have better cooling/noise levels.

PCPartPicker Part List

Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon RX 5700 8 GB GAMING OC Video Card  ($359.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $359.99
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

This is also a Gigabyte card but it is a blower type cooler so it will run hotter/louder than the one above.
