GPU

LinusFan132

What's a good GPU for running games like Fortnite, Surviving Mars, Minecraft. Also good for running games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare AND is pretty future proof.

A bit cheaper maybe, and a weird username you have may I say.

Also maybe something more for in between casual and amtuer.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare requires a good graphic card to run. So you really need to chug out a good deal of cash to buy a good graphic card.

Well, if you can find Vega 64, maybe you can give it a try.

What's your budget ?
What's your screen resolution / refresh rate ?

Do you mind buying used ? / is there a market for used near you ?

Was not expecting this. My budget I guess would be $550AUD, or for you (looking at your location) $500CAD. My screen resolution is a bit under HD, refresh rate is any where from 10-30hz (I dunno, it's a really old monitor). I would prefer not to buy used and the closest market/warehouse near me is 20 minutes away.

Are you buying a monitor because a new GPU would be wasted without one...

That 30hz panel is the easiest bottleneck to fix.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Will you upgrade to something else in the near future (say 2 years)? Otherwise you can spend much less than that for games to be playable, running low resolution and low refresh rate means low requirement for GPUs.

Be more specific.

At 4K?

At 1080p? at 60p, 120p, 144p?

If money is no object, wait and get the RTX 2080Ti Super in the new year. It'll only cost like $2000. If you're not that hard pressed, and aren't upgrading your primary monitor any time soon:

GTX 1080Ti is the -most- you will need for 4Kp60 at maximum settings in most games that were not designed for 4K. The 1660 Ti is supposedly equal to the 1080 (non Ti)

Minecraft does not require and is incapable of using any high end GPU or CPU to begin with. Fortnite and most MMO games aren't typically high-GPU use games because they have to run on crappy laptops and devices that are significantly weak like SmartTV's and Android/Apple phones/tablets.

I'd probably suggest aiming for COD:MW's requirements rather than Fortnite.

Well, to put how bad my laptop is, it can't even run Fortnite OR Minecraft at 30FPS.

Also, cause I'm technically will be getting this PC as a gift. Should I get a GTX 1080 ti or GTX 1660 ti. BTW what does the "Ti" and "Super" mean?

A 1080TI is almost double the performance of the 1660TI... It's about on par with the 2080 non-super.
