Really needed a fan directly over that VRM for overclocking...

Just get something with a VRM heatsink, probably the MSI B450 Gaming Plus microATX board

Hi guys, I'm looking to buy the best value motherboard possible. Keep in mind that I want to be able to Overclock my R5 2600 to at least 4.0ghz. I use to have a first gen R5 1400 and I was able to achieve 3.9ghz stable. I was even able to get to 4.1ghz for a while (unstable of course). That's what is bringing me here, although my CPU (trooper) survived the intensity of my beginner overclocking abilities. My motherboard, a simple but good enough MSI MORTAR B350 died in the process. It got so hot that you can see burn marks (discoloration) around the VRM.

Long story short, I'm in need of a new mobo. But this time I really want to get opinions before I buy. Btw, I know I kinda ask for it...I've pushed it to far. I'm really just looking for a good mobo. That can overclock a bit, nothing crazy. Also if it as RGB, it would be a plus.

Thank you all in advance. :)

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

There was a heatsink on the mortar mobo I had. I removed it after it died cause I was curious to see the damage I've done. Thank you btw. I'm looking at your suggestion right now.

Still useful for recovery if the price is the same
