Hello guys

I have an old set up and was looking around to upgrade, but just the GPU since the rest is prty ok for now. The actual setup is

i7 4790k

Corsair Hydro H110

msi Z97-GAMING 7

Kingston HyperX 16gb DDR 3-1866

Samsung 850 evo SSD

Samsung 970 evo NVMe M.2

WD Green 2TB

Corsair RM650 Gold

MSI GeForce GTX970 4GB

My question was, what is the best gpu i can get for this setup w/o upgrading any other parts?

I'd say a GTX 1660Ti, the RTX 2060 (non-Super) or the radeon RX Vega 56.

No budget, best card i can run with this build

I mean rtx 2080ti is the bets card out there. People nowdays worry too much of bottlenecking. Ig you put your graphic setting to max/ultra the load is on the gpu and not the cpu.

So if you plan to play on max settings with 144hz it really does not matter what gpu you get

Would suggest 1660 super or 5700 XT

That's really not how it works

your CPU is fine for 100+fps in the average AAA game

If you just want the best value higher end GPU that would probably be the RX 5700 or 5700 XT

XFX models are cheap right now due to the average cooler on them.

Depends on the games. Can get the best card in the world and enjoy the stutter fest as the cpu is pegged at 100% the whole time. Though not all games behave that way when pegged.

I wouldn’t go higher that a 1080ti or equivalent at 1440p and hope an FPS cap can help that cpu. Isn’t much left in it for the past couple generations of games.
