Slow Boot After Enabling XMP

Upgraded my Motherbaord and CPU to a Ryzen 5 3600 and MSI X570 Gaming Plus was working fine with normal boot times after restarting the system, until i enabled a XMP profile and boot times would take very long or would be quick into windows home screen then a black screen with a mouse cursor for 1-2 minutes until the desktop showed up.

  • Updated to latest BIOS
  • Did a memtest with 0 errors
  • cleared CMOS 

The RAM is: Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK16GX4M2E3200C16  16GB 

Have windows on a SSD, with a 1TB hard for storage.

any ideas?

I have the same RAM and CPU, I had a MSI B450 tomahawk "max", boot times were rather slow. But worse was the PC kept randomly going into BIOS by itself!  

 

If you happen to experience something like that as well I'd recommend returning or RMA... 

 

I'm now using a B350 MSI and have no issues,  fast boot times too 

... I'm actually thinking of OC my RAM a little more to see if it does anything for performance. 

 

Those new fondled motherboards,  aren't that great me thinks and have a lot of issues,  even the expensive ones. 

 

 

Tldr. Probably better to return it, since the black screen thing surely is cause for concern

Yes set ram-speed, timings and dram voltage manually :)

Your right this isn't off by default on AMD.. @pax- this is located in boot mode tab - Called UEFI - this setting will disable CSM.

I would suggest getting stock timings working first. But yes you can play with this too.

1-2 minutes after i change settings in BIOS, but just a normal shut down and turn back on takes like 10 seconds to get into the home screen then when i enter my pin i get a black screen for 1-2 minutes then goes into the desktop
