My pc is about 3 or so years old and is in need of a refresh, wanting to get it to VR capable specs. Here's my current parts list:

radeon rx460 gpu

AMD fx 8320 8 core cpu  with a deepcool 120 liquid cooler

2x 8gb DDR3 1600mhz ram

ASUS M5A97 motherboard

700 watt power supply

1tb hard drive

every bottleneck test im doing suggests a gpu upgrade and that's it soi im thinking of doing these upgrades...

firecuda 2 tb ssd

Rx 5700 gpu

and maybe a ram change

ill probably wait till holiday sales come to look for a good deal but what would be your suggestions for updating this setup? anything would help as im not very experienced with this stuff.     :]

Oof, i was worried about that.  So the way i see it then, correct me if im wrong, is to either basically build a new pc (lol) or possibly just go with a lower end gpu. So is there another gpu i could get that would compliment my current setup a little better and still be able to run decent vr? Or is would it be better to just save my money.

edit: or could i just run with my original plan and get the ssd ram and gpu and then in a few months get a new MB and cpu. I’m really just exploring all options at this point haha

Pretty much just save up for a Ryzen 5 3600, an X470 or X570 motherboard, and a set of 3200MHz or 3600MHz RAM at 16-16-16 timing. Then add the GPU. If you're looking to get an SSD, I'd say to get a nice NVMe, as they're the same price as a regular 2.5" SSD, but are WAY faster, and much easier to install.
