gpu performance "boosting"

i have watched a few videos on youtube about these guys testing way different gpu's together and they have a minor increase in performance, i was wondering if i can use my 6 year old gtx 970 to boost my 2070 a bit :D

yes and no.

It could take up the PhysX load but that'll give you like 5fps for a lot of work and stupid settings. *in supported games

 

It can however easily boost other things like calculation tasks (F@H, Boinc, maybe rendering).

PhsyX dedicated GPU is no longer a thing.

only way I could see this being a thing, and it being so minor, multi monitor setups... have your primary gaming monitor only on your main GPU and setting up the other to run secondary monitors.

Isn't PhysX dead?

I don't see it integrated into games anymore,

Only see PhysX in older easy to run games.

PhysX is still utilized some extend, but it's implementation made it become part of DirectX much like tesselation it's something that it's used more naturally.

 

It works a lot better as well and GPUs have no problem handling it reason why trying to put another card there for it would either be the same result or made worsen it since you're using more hardware to accomplish it gotta expect all sort of glitches and incompatibilities.

 

All that said, you could still assign a different GPU or your CPU to do it on today's form on nvidia control panel if you'd like.
