Hey everyone I am building my first build and the motherboard I have selected is the the Gigabyte Z390 AORUS PRO WIFI and in the compatibility notes it shows up that The motherboard M.2 slot #1 shares bandwidth with a SATA 6.0 Gb/s port. When the M.2 slot is populated, one SATA 6.0 Gb/s port is disabled. The two storage devices that I have are a Samsung 970 Evo Plus 250 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive and a Seagate Barracuda 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive. I just need help understanding what the compatibility notes mean.

Thanks

In this case, that note is not relevant to you. Long story short. Nothing to worry about.

But in case you're still interested in the full story, this is basically it:

Your board has 2 M.2 slots. The M2A is the top one, the M2M is the bottom one.

An M.2 SSD can be SATA or PCIE. In your case, your M.2 SSD is an PCIE variety. But say you were using an M.2 SATA SSD in the top slot, as you can see SATA3 1 would now turn off. If you plugged your HDD in that port, it would not show up.

The second M.2 slot, if you use it SATA3 port 4 and 5 will turn off, regardless of whatever sort of M.2 SSD it is that you use.

The warning of PCPartPicker is basically saying "hey, if you use an M.2 SATA SSD in the top slot, 1 port will turn off. Keep that in mind!".
