Is res above 1080p and 60Hz really that much better?

The Blue Cryptid

Watching an older video they did about moniter differences, and everyone dismisses the 1080 as garbage. I've never seen anything higher than 1080p 60Hz. Is it really that much better?

Just here for some fun.

1080p 144hz is the absolute lowest resolution I'm comfortable playing on. It was mind blowing going from a 1080p 60hz back in the day to a 144hz, equally as much going to 1440p 165hz, the biggest difference being the refresh rate but 1440p is noticeably more crisp than 1080.

to some people there's no difference in the experience from 60 fps to 144 fps, and from 1080p to 4k, but to others it's night and day. Worth going into a best buy and seeing for yourself.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Interesting. I'm planning on a new monitor, and didn't want to get my hopes too high

60 hz to 75 hz as big difference as 75 to 100. Then 100 to 144 imo.

and 60 to 75 is a big big difference so take your guess.

1080? It’s ok on about smaller than 22 inch MAX imo. But I’m a guy who’s been using 4k laptops and 1440p laptops how many years I can’t even do a 1080p laptop now.

It depends on the size of the monitor and the content being displayed. My experience is it is fine for up to 24" monitors viewed from 18"-24" and up to a 43" TV viewed from 8'-12', both at 60HZ. Blueray movies show up sharp and clear with no motion blurring on the TV. My monitors mostly display web pages, Youtube video, and productivity displays, such as from a word processor.

A gamer, on the other hand, would probably go nuts with resolution refresh rates that low.

One has to be proactive, not reactive, to ensure the safety of one's data so backup your data! And RAID is NOT a backup!

Yeah, with the power of my pc right now. I can definitely feel the pain on my current monitor

I saw a big difference going from 1080p to 1440p, and an even bigger difference going from 60hz to 144hz.

I would also add that it depends on what you are doing.

- Watching a movie with something that is more than 60Hz is worthless (except on TVs that have image processing to smooth it)

- Not all kind of games benefit high refresh rate. Just think about how much action there is on the display. Personally, I LOVE playing FPS and Racing Simulation with 144Hz GSYNC.

I went from gaming on a 4k panel pinned at 60 hz to a 1080p at 144hz. It made a big difference for me in terms of eye strain along with the other benefits of playing at a faster frame rate. I never thought I'd like anything else than 4k but now I'm fully content with 1080p at 144hz.  Someday if I have money to burn I would consider a 1440p- 140hz panel.

So yes I would say it is considerable better.
