I have a motherboard with built in Bluetooth, do I still need a USB dongle to connect my PS3 controller?

Lukandon

Simple question. I have a motherboard with built in Bluetooth, but do I still need a USB dongle to connect my PS3 controller? I thought I would've been able to use it without issue, but SCPToolKit and Windows 10's settings aren't detecting it.
And yes, the PS3's controller is the only one I have that I can use with my PC. I don't have an Xbox or a Switch Pro Controller. I'm a bit of a cheapskate.

If I do need a USB dongle, then what's the point in motherboards with Bluetooth built in??

Agreed.

But when I wanted to do the same thing, I had to get a dedicated inexpensive new adapter. It also allowed 2 controllers to be used simultaneously for multiplayer games.

If I remember correctly, this is the one I got from Amazon that worked with the toolkit: LINK.

I was having problems actually using SCPToolKit. It was super broken, so I gave up and bought a Switch Pro Controller. Now I have a really weird issue. It won't connect via USB. It will only work via Bluetooth. I mean, I don't mind, but it would be nice to charge it while... literally just as I was typing this, it actually detected it after leaving it in for several minutes. Does anyone know why this happened?
