Well there's 3 pin, and then there's 4 pin.

Fan power and RGB control/power are done with two separate cables (except some proprietary which use their own single cable). For RGB fans you have PWM for fan power. Most mobos have at least 2 system fan headers. RGB fans tend to include power splitter for 3 fans. But if you get one separately, take note what kind of cable fans are using. To be safe you could use manufacturers own splitters.
