What can happen in the worst case? Incompatible power plug for body groom (shaver)

Rakanoth

I lost the power plug and cable of my body groom (shaver) device. I went to the company's website to order a replacement part. However, there is only one single power plug & cable combination on their website. My device is not in the list of compatible devices. But the picture on the website looks exactly same as my lost power plug & cable. Instead of buying a new one, I ordered this replacement part to save some money.

Now, the power plug can be successfully inserted into my device. But the current, voltage, resistance etc. that the new power plug utilizes can be different. I am not sure if they are really different because I don't have the old cable. In this scenario, what can happen at worst? Is it possible that the device will explode? (I am seriously asking this because I do not want to hurt my body irrevocably)

Are we talking about just the cable, or is there actual power adaptor on it. Like a black box somewhere on the cable or the black box that plugs directly into the power outlet.

Main system: Ryzen 7 7800X3D / Asus ROG Strix B650E / G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO 32GB 6000Mhz / Powercolor RX 7900 XTX Red Devil/ EVGA 750W GQ / NZXT H5 Flow

Not really in my expertise but WORST CASE it would probably just overheat and melt the components inside. Maybe be to hot for you to hold.

I don't think it would blow up if that's what you're asking.

Now if it has a battery in it it might be a different story, but I still doubt it would blow up.

Well, what's the device? If we knew the maker and model we could find how many Amperes and Volts it needs.

What's the new adapter? That would tell us how many Volts and Amperes it provides.

Yeah, it has a battery inside.

I have one of those adaptors for my razor, and the one from the razor before, and from the one before that...

They all have different part numbers, but do the same job, and are all designed to work on a wide variety of power systems around the world.

You should be fine.

According to Philips website

Quote

BG3005, BG3006, BG3010 , BG3011, BG3012, BG3015, BG3016, BG5020, BG5025, SBG315, HQ8505, HQ850

Are all effectively the same model, and they are all under one declaration.

Power Run time: 50 minutes

Charging: 1 hour full charge

Looks like they only vary by the battery charging time and handle style. My opinion here is that if you ordered a part for any of the 3xxx or 5xxx models, it should work. Looking up "HQ8505" or "HQ850" reveals that those are power bricks for various Philips device models. The SBG315 appears to be a Star Wars themed model of the BG3015 and also points to the HQ8505 as being the power supply.

With that said, generally the only thing that matters is the voltage and polarity. If one charger is one amperage and another is more, the one that is bigger will still work for one that needed a smaller one. However if it's reversed, eg your device needed one with a larger amperage, then it might not charge at all, or it might just make the charger melt if it actually pulls the stated amps.
