So I've been trying to get my friend into pc gaming for a while and i think i finally annoyed him enough that he wants to do it now!

But I kinda suck at knowing what to buy for pretty low end builds. So could guys help?

He's got $450 USD to spend, and he basically is only going to be gaming. So what do you guys think? got any idea of the best build for $450?

Thanks,

Matt

Where do you live? I'd need to see prices of things in your country to help. Imo used mid-high end end parts are always a better buy than new low-end stuff. Try looking around to see if anyone is selling a decent graphics card or maybe a CPU + MB?

For online gaming? Of course. You can't really game otherwise. Try building your own computer with others suggestions and look at other threads or others builds.

Money saving is always great. Look at others builds as I said. Try to find the most cost effective to efficient ratio as you can.

It would be in the US, and to be more specific on the west coast.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU:  AMD A10-7850K 3.7GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($184.98 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard:  Gigabyte GA-G1.Sniper A88X ATX FM2+ Motherboard  ($109.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory:  Mushkin Blackline 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2400 Memory  ($79.99 @ Newegg)
Storage:  Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($59.66 @ OutletPC)
Power Supply:  Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($49.99 @ NCIX US)
Total: $484.61

It's a touch over budget but the motherboard is $80 off so it's a great deal.

You can drop down to a lower level CPU and save $80, this one will help him get the most out of his current budget until he can upgrade to a dedicated graphics card.

Power supply is over powered, but is there for future expansion. Same price as a 500w.

I forgot the case. So figure $50 over budget, or $30 under budget with an A10-6790k

I would just take a look at what people are selling locally. This is just an example but i clicked on a random city on the west coast and searched "gtx" under computers and clicked a ad where a guy was selling:

Intel Core i5-2500k (sandy bridge): ~$150. Stock cooler.

MSI P67A-G65 (LGA1155, B3 stepping). ~$50.
MSI GeForce GTX 560ti, has that fancy Twin Frozr II cooler: ~$75

1 TB Samsung 3.5" HDD 2008. $25
Seasonic SS-550HT 550W : Free.

Antec P150 ~$35

$335 (offer less of course) + $80 for ram and you have yourself a $400 build that would absolutely shit on anything that you can buy new in this price range.
