Many stores do not purchase from Nvidia directly, but rather through another supplier. I don't think I should be giving away exact numbers, but some stores have quite tight profit margins on certain PC components.. Although during the mining craze of 2017, they were able to squeeze a bit more out of consumers.

Exact numbers would be a tremendous help if you’d like to

It will depend on the deal. Say the GPU is 100 USD, they might purchase it for 80 USD. Maybe a bit more. Sometimes it's a bit more, because they get a rebate on each GPU sold.. Or you pay more for the guarantee that any unsold merchandise can be resold to the supplier.

Of course the price will depend on the quantity of devices ordered.

Plus you have to keep all the middle men in mind.

E.g. it goes from Nvidia (who already has certain other suppliers for memory for example) to an AIB (i.e. MSI, Asus, etc.) to a supplier, to a store, to a person. In that road, everyone takes a cut from the profits, so there may be a wide variance in what exactly everyone is paying.

Plus you can cut out the AIB in the process if you're buying a reference design card (founders edition).
