Corsair AX850 from 2012 start looking or wait

Considering how well they're built, I think it could still last you for a few more years without issues.

Hey so I'm currently trying to determine with me looking to upgrade in the future currently running a i7 4790k and a Asus gtx980 if my ax850 from 2012 ought to be replaced soon. It's been a rock solid psu that's lasted this far a long time but wasn't sure how long I should give it if I replace it.

Thanks was trying to gauge it out. I'd probably wait for black Friday sale if I switch.

Yeah, if you find a really great deal on Black Friday for something like a be quiet! Straight Power or Dark Power Pro, Corsair AX, HX or even RMx or a Seasonic Prime Ultra (also high-end units that should last you for a long time) it'd probably be worth to take it.

I'll have to check with Corsair on the cables. I bought individually sleeved cables I'd like to carry over if possible. https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Accessories-|-Parts/PC-Components/Power-Supplies/Professional-Series™-AX850-AX750-AX650-Individually-Sleeved-Modular-Cables-—-Black/p/CP-8920009

Check this site.

https://www.corsair.com/eu/en/psu-cable-compatibility

The AX 850 cables are not compatible with other PSUs, but the AX 860 is mostly compatible with normal Corsair type 3/4 cables. The exception is the 24 pin, which is special for the AX. The reviews of the AX 860 seem to be from late 2012/early 2013, so there's a small chance.

:)

Yes that pretty much means I'll have to buy  new cables. I don't know if with the next one I get I'm willing to put in the effort with individual sleeved cables. Oh well thanks everyone for the assist.
