Hi, I heard that motherboard is under voltage from the CMOS battery even if its not pluged into power supply, so  you

cant touch the metal contact on the top or bottom side of the motherboard because it will be short circuited and destroyed.

And I accidentally touched a bit the bottom of the motherboard with metal raisers on the cpu cooler backplate. (not sure if I touched contacts or not)

Do you think that this destroyed the motherboard? And if I plug the motherboard in the computer after this is it possible that it will

also destroy CPU and RAM?

I have Gigabyte aorus z390 elite.

No, the CMOS-battery can barely supply like 3mA current because of internal resistance. Those batteries are designed to last for a long, long time, not to supply a lot of power. There's not enough juice to destroy anything, so you're fine.

Unless you saw some sparks fly, you probably didn't do anything wrong and the board is fine.

Motherboards aren't so fragile that you can't touch them.

It's not impossible that the cpu and ram would die from some other cause but it would probably be really bad luck from some other components failure unrelated to just touching the motherboard contacts.

If there's excessive grease or oils on your fingers, you can clean the mark off with some isopropyl alcohol.

Unlikely. Nobody says to unplug/remove the CMOS battery before installing the board. As another poster pointed out, it's very low current, and all that battery powers is the RTC and BIOS settings. It's a very small part of the MB that would be "live".

There were no sparks, thanks a lot for your answerst! ! That made me happy. ?

I have one more question please, do think that short circuit on graphics card damages also other components like motherboard, cpu and RAM?

On my old PC I was replacing gpu cooler for aftermaket one with metal passives on memory, in manual there is written that you must put isolation tape on contacts around passives

to prevent short circuit.

I originally put it there, and PC was working but the card made a loud coil whine so I tryed to remove those tapes and

pc stoped working (I couldnt get to windows after boot), so propably card had a short circuit from the metal passive.
