Suggestions for a €1000 budget rig for gaming

LucaAlba297

A little bit of background:
I'm in the process of building my first rig, i asked help in an italian's forum (because that's where i'm going do buy the parts) and came up with this build.  The budget is €1000 on the amazon.it store.

some other infos:

  • A t the moment i have a 1080p 75hx monitor, but I'm planning to upgrade it in the future
  • I don't need an HDD right now, I'll buy it in the future and focusing more budget on other more expensive components.
  • I already have all the other peripherals.
  • In the other forum they suggested me to either buy the ryzen 3600 + a CPU cooler or to buy the 3600x and use the Stock cooler.
  • They also suggested me to buy a 80+ bronze 550W PSU, but I'm not sure about it

And that's it, Can't wait to hear your suggestions LTT forums, Thanks in advance!

Looks ok, the SSD is meh, if you want a 660p, the 1TB model should be the minimum you go for. The 512gb variant just has way too little cache.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

Don't choose PSU based solely on rating, you can have 80+Gold PSUs be awful and 80+Bronze PSUs be superb. Go to the PSU Tier List to choose from there, Tier B is recommended for budget builds, Tier A and above for higher end builds

Ryzen 5 3600 stock cooler is sufficient, 3600x is bad value(more expensive and slightly better than the 3600)

The build you linked is completely fine, but it can be tuned slightly so that you can fit in a bigger SSD, and more powerful GPU

EDIT: added hyperlink for psu tier list

You can go for the 3600 since it has the same air cooler as the 3600x and perform the same.

The PSU is good but you can go with a 550w one instead https://it.pcpartpicker.com/product/z9CD4D/antec-earthwatts-gold-pro-550w-80-gold-certified-semi-modular-atx-power-supply-ea550g-pro

Thanks!

What about buying a smaller SSD and buying this Gigabyte Nvidia RTX2060 Super Windforce OC 8G (432,83 €) or the PowerColor AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT (435,26 €). Because I honestly don't think i'll need 1TB SSD storage at the moment, but i don't know if those GPUs are worth 40€ more.

At the same price the 5700XT is better in both performance and price compared to the 2060S. You can get a 500Gb SSD instead like the MX500 from Crucial.

they are, would go for the 5700xt in a heartbeat over the 2060 super. same price but the 5700xt is often compared performance-wise to a 2070, or sometimes a 2070 super/2080

this^

also, remember to try tighten timings on your ram. you should a decent amount of free performance. there is a tutorial which tells you exactly what values to set to each setting, the whole thing should not require trial and error, and is pretty much idiot proof

Thanks a lot! I'll follow your suggestions.

Just two more question, how does the Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory (€85) compare with the Patriot Viper Steel 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory (€84)? Do i need to update the B450 tomahawk max BIOS in order to use it with the 3rd gen ryzen?

The 3600mhz (and Ryzen 2 love that) one will be better and at that price it's worth it and the b450 tomahawk supports ram until 4133mhz :)

3600MHz should be better, for the price i'd get that. you dont need to update that mobo's bios, it is a MAX variant which means it supports ryzen 3000 out of the box
