Need new processor

Hey guys, 

I am an Intel user. I have been using Intel for over a decade but I am thinking of switching to amd now. So can anyone tell me which amd processor I should get.

 

My usage is both heavy intensive gaming and and editing 3d models so I guess I would need a high end processor I mean alternative for Intel's extreme edition.

AMD's "extreme edition" Threadrippers will be out sometime in November, wait for that instead. Or you could pick up the old Threadrippers and then cry when new one comes out.

I would pick a 3900X or 3950X over an old Threadripper if you don't need those extra PCIe lanes, or wait for the new Threadrippers if you can afford them.

Main System: Ryzen 2700, Asus Crosshair VII Hero, EVGA GTX 1080ti SC, 970 EVO Plus NVMe, Crucial Ballistix 3200mhz CL14, CM H500, CM ML240L cpu cooler.

Second System: Ryzen 2400G, Gigabyte B450 DS3H, RX 580 Nitro+, Kingston A400 SSD, Team T-Force 3200mhz CL15

If it ain't overclocked it ain't good...

Or drain your bank account for a 64c/128t Epyc CPU + workstation or server MB right now.

What is your budget? That may clear up what you can and cannot afford. If you can't afford a 1000usd Mobo/cpu/ram combo then you cant afford a 3950X.
