GA-78LMT-USB3 question

Go to solution Solved by Loveandpower,

Problem has been RESOLVED.

For anybody who is curious and has similar issue. The RX 550 is indeed a hybrid BIOS. I had to use DVI port instead of HDMI to get a display until I did the driver updates. Worked 100% with HDMI afterwards.

So I have a Rev 5 GA-78LMT-USB3 motherboard.

I can't find anything in the manual that talks about GPT partitioning or UEFI. I have a UEFI graphics card a RX 550 4gb. My question is can I get the graphic card to work with the motherboard? I have a topic open currently on Toms Hardware about this as well and I am just getting conflicting information so at this point I am totally confused.

I am being told over there that I should be able to update my BIOS/hard reset the CMOS. But my bios is dated in system information as the most recent according to the manufacturer website.

When I  install the RX 550 4GB by XFX it just gives me a black screen but the fan spins and you can tell the system is booted properly as I can swap the HDMI to the integrated HDMI port and it works perfectly fine displaying the screen.

Hi @Loveandpower

I don't really get your whole question. Does the GPU not show up on your computer? Because GPT does not have much to do with that. GPT is a partition table used on a hard drive. UEFI can either be a boot modus or a modern version of BIOS.

When the integrated graphics work i think that you first have to disable integrated graphics within the BIOS you sometimes have a choice in the BIOS to either use the dedicated GPU or the integrated.

Ensure that you are not booting with Legacy boot options, and use UEFI as you noted.  Ensure as noted by @Jarno. that the iGPU in BIOS is disabled.

I do not think my BIOS has an option for "changing out of legacy"

When you look in the BIOS you should be able to find some info to identify it. The BIOS often is not made by the manufacture of the motherboard. When you search at the name of the BIOS you should be able to find info about how to disable or enable Legacy modus. Every BIOS should atleast have this option. Sometimes legacy is not supported but then its grayed out and it will tell you.

Here is a link to my manual

You need to set the following settings - for INIT Display First (bottom of screenshot advanced bios features) select PEG.  PCI graphics is the PCI slot setting.  OnChip VGA is the iGPU on the CPU.  PEG is the PCIEx16 slot.  Your board, from what I am gathering, has LEGACY options but is a UEFI board.
