Hi LinusTechTips Community, I recently bought a router from Linksys that has the ability to link a Linksys smart wifi account to it for remote control. After about an hour of setup, the router was up and running pretty well, the internet connection worked good throughout the building and the speeds remained great. Although, my only issue/concern is that the LinksysSmartWifi feature with the cloud account is not very stable since most of the time that I open a web browser and try to connect the connection will work good for some time and then as I click around the settings, the connection to the router from the cloud is lost and I have to sign in again. It is pretty reliable when connecting directly to the access point within the network, although why will the router not keep its connection stable with the Linksys Smart Cloud?

*Note that I have the Linksys smart EA6400 dual band version.

Hope this information post was helpful  ?,

first of as a general rule never configure your router over wifi, especially updating it over a wifi and even more so if your running a custom firmware like openwrt/lede. 2nd if you configure something like ports or idk wifi configs it will have to reboot itself to go into effect. 3rd clear cookies and cache on your browser  if your having issues. 4th make sure your firewall,av is not blocking it( for me bitdefender was causing issues,so add it to whitelist). 5th, don't use that garbage remote control.

Linksys smart routers automatically come with a wireless network up and running with password and SSID printed on the bottom of the unit, and I set it up over WI-FI on my laptop which does not have an Ethernet port, there is even a feature of the Linksys Smart WI-FI app to setup using the wireless network, so I don't think that I broke it with setting up over wireless. I did 2 or 3 power cycles, and there is still the issue, one thing that I notice is that if you give it some time with the app it will log in with the cloud feature and let you remotely access the router, although I am still not understanding is why it won't keep the connection with the Linksys cloud when accessing with the website (linksyssmartwifi.com) on my desktop computer, but will work fine when connecting with ip address on the same WI-FI network utilizing a WI-FI USB adapter. When I try to login to my linksys smart wifi account and access the router, it will say not able to reach the router or after the waiting circle animation will give the error "ERROR_FAIL_GET_WAN_SETTINGS".
