I came across a great deal on 15 motherboards with processors and ram and a few new cases all for $200 bucks. I would like to build these out and sell them but I wanted to know what the most cost effective way to put windows on all of them would be. I have only built one PC in the last 15 years and I bought windows 10 at full retail for it. I built a few back in the day and also bought my operating systems at retail. Is there a cost effective way to attain windows 10 for all of them? Thanks ahead of time for your help

Ubuntu is free....

Alternately, there are lovely shady sites like Kinguin which will sell you a "legit" key for about 3$

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

You could leave Windows not activated, it will run for 30 days or more without any issues.

You could look for some Windows 7 licenses on eBay, as most likely your old computers won't run well with Windows 10 anyway.

I think you can still use those keys to activate a Windows 10 copy (but it would be locked to that specific hardware)

You could try installing both . Ubuntu and Windows 10 ( no key ) .  That would give your customer the option. Stay with Linus or buy a key.

You just need to be upfront on the system.

I believed Steam is now available for Linux .

I just found the page . You need to have a company, that build PC. Then register with Microsoft , to get access to the OEM package .

The OEM package installation is so complex.

Register

Deployment

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/system-builder-deployment-of-windows-10-for-desktop-editions

I do not think that 15 system is worth the cost in, time and effort .

My 2 cents
