Hello,

This will be my first build since my dad built me a computer in 2001 (complete with candy apple automotive paint). I think I have the components picked out to final spec, but I cannot decide on a case. $150 is probably the max I would be willing to spend, as I almost decided on a Fractal Define R6 if research hadn't indicated that thermals might be too poor. Less money spent is always preferable, though. I also don't care about RGB or glass panels.

My goal is to be able to play most games at higher fps in 1440p Ultra Settings. I do not plan to do any overclocking for now, so liquid cooling etc. is not on my plate.

The specs are as follows: Input Welcome

CPU: Ryzen 3700x (would 3600x be too under powered?)

GPU: EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER XC ULTRA (08G-P4-3183-KR)

MoBo: ASUS AM4 TUF Gaming X570-Plus

RAM: CORSAIR VENGEANCELPX16GB (2x 8GB)

SSD: Samsung 860 QVO 1TB Solid State Drive (MZ-76Q1T0)

PSU: CORSAIR RMX Series, RM750x, 750 Watt, 80+ Gold

Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU bmiprz 27" WQHD (2560x1440) NVIDIA G-SYNC IPS

Meshify C should do fine.

But some recommendations: If you're not overclocking, don't worry about spending an arm and leg on an X570 board. A b450 tomahawk will do just fine, and when you decide to overclock it will handle it more than enough.

Then regarding your processor question, the 3600 will do absolutely fine. But if you feel your workload could benefit you with the extra C/T then go for it.

You also don't need a 750w power supply, you can bump that down a good chunk.

With regards to the Meshify C, how are its defenses against projectile cat urine? Having two well trained cats, I can't help but imagine the possibilities with a mesh front case.

With the processor, my maximum workload would be Microsoft word and maybe a music program later down the line. Would dropping down to the Ryzen 3600x not cost me too many frames on a 1440p 144hz monitor?

I had also been advised to overshoot your power needs by a fair bit with the PSU. Would a 650w one not be to close to my consumption?

Well it has a mesh front for good airflow, and considering you menioned you didn't want to go with the R6 because it had lesser airflow than something as such- this would be a good option.

R6 isn't a bad option.

For your cpu, just get the 3600, you won't notice a difference between the 3700 and that.

Then power supply: a 550W unit would do fine, 650 if the price is similar. Make sure you buy a good unit though. Reference this here:

I dont even wanna ask why this is a requirment....

Did you add any more case fans with the stock ones? I plan to run stock CPU and GPU cooling.

Stock Fans are X2 GP14's which are decent case fans (same ones found in the Meshify Series) which should be enough for most systems.

If you plan on overclocking either the 3600 or 3700 (whichever you end up with) I personally recommend upgrading the cooler (nothing crazy, I've used $35 air towers for builds and gotten great results on the R5 series CPU's) since the 3600 comes with the Wraith Stealth as opposed to the better wraith Spire. I've only used the Wraith Max once for a 1700 but it was a temporary use before an aftermarket cooler came into the build. But if you plan on leaving everything stock or just doing a small overclock, the stock coolers will serve you just fine.
