Galaxy A5 (2017) Android 9 update

Hello, today I saw my friend who has a Galaxy J3 (2017) have Android 9 installed on their device. I knew by OneUI. My question is will Galaxy A5 (2017) phones get an update aswell? I'm currently running Android 8.0. Also my region is Lithuania, East Europe. Thanks

You might want to ask if your friend installed an official update or was using an unofficial workaround like community firmware.  The problem is that Samsung tends to abandon phones after a couple of years, and the A5 is definitely older than two years now.
