In need of a psu - help :D

CriSis_

Hi all,

I have once again changed my build and am now in need of yet another psu recommendation. The psu needs to be within the budget of £50 or under and must be able to power a 1660ti + 3600 both overclocked, 16gb of ram (possibly ocd) and a b450 tomahawk max. Many tahnks in advance for any recommendations :D

Thanks,

Lex.

Get a CX550 if you ask me. Leave some overhead for future upgrades and quieter operation hence the 500Aw recommendation

I had been looking at both the cx450 and the bequite psu. Would the dual rails on the bequite psu cause issues with system balance i.e - ssds, hdds get more power than needed and the rest of the system is limited?

Thanks for the help,

Lex.

I do not believe noise will be much of an issue, given that 1660ti+3600 consume like 200-250W max during gaming

Not garbage, but it's still on the lower end of PSU. Why get that when you cuold get a CX450 for cheaper, with a more modern half bridge LLC primary topology?

I suggested the pure power 11 400w as it is Corsair RMx level power supply; which is better than the CXM.

The CX/CXM is also good though

No; that's only with really shitty/old power supplies.

The Pure Power 11 is a modern high-quality power supply; you'll 200% be fine

LOL

trolling or for real? There is no way anyone could realistically think that the pure power is anywhere close to rmx in quality...

ACRF primary topology puts it behind the Corsair CX non M in quality

I managed to find the cx450 for £42 in currys in store xD, Think it might be a good idea though to get a cx550w in order to have some gap left for an oc on my cpu, gpu and ram (will have to oc my ram).

gpus like 120-150W, cpu 70W, RAM 10W. That's with max OC on all parts btw

It legitimately is, actually.

The low end PSU line of beQuiet! is the System Power line

edit: saw your edit; it still is a pretty decent PSU

Looking at reviews looks like it's a good power supply except for the voltage regulation and ripple which are at pretty high levels; but nothing that would actually damage components

Build quality and the numbers on an oscope/multimeter are two different things. Jonnyguru, Mask, Rexper, Orion, Stefan Payne and a few others are the most competenent enough to judge build quality.

edit :  black = hello_there_123's comments

- may be older design but it has 5 years warranty, it's semi modular, it's bronze rated and gets close to 87% efficiency and it's 48 uk pounds.  It's not garbage.  May be group regulated but who the fuck cares on a system that consumes 200w

Maybe because it's proper 500w, while CX 450 that's cheaper it's probably the 2015 model (not the newest CX series) so it's not really that good of a deal

Stop with your group regulation complaint, you probably don't even know what that means, just repeating others.

It's absolutely irrelevant to this person's computer, which barely uses 200-250w, if the psu is group regulated or not.

It's not better than m12ii  or s12ii , it's a shitty psu with shitty components and capacitors, which is rated for 30c ambient temperature and must be derated if used at higher than that - every other psu is rated for 40c or 50c .. it also has only 2-3 years warranty.

I only listed it because it's cheap price and because even with derating it, it can still do 450-500w safely, and if the guy goes for the higher wattage psus out there, might as well go for something SAFE-ish.

The S12ii is old design, but at least it's made with quality components (fan, capacitors, parts etc), and has long warranty... yeah it's group regulated but for that system IT DOESN'T MATTER

the cxm has a 2015 and a 2017 version

but the 2017 shows barely any differences

the difference between these cxm's and the cx non-modular shows some good changes though

is no uvp a good reason to completely burn it to the ground? not meeting c6 sleep states?

there's no 2015 cx, that's the cxm, which is about on level with the sp9

i recommend you do some research on what group regulation actually means for crossloading and how the 5v can go out of spec when you don't load it and do load the 12v. and then complain about people not knowing their stuff

this pure power 11 would be a pretty good choice in my opinion

system power 9 is pretty decent as well, but this one only costs 3 pounds more according to pcpartpicker

Do you think 400w is enough for a 3600, 1660ti and ram all overclocked? Should I look into the pure power 11 500w :D
