Hi, I just built my computer 4 days ago and i think the CPU fan is not stable. I think its "wavering" is what they call it. I have no idea what's going on or if this is normal.

My BIOS and Windows is up to date.

MSI X470 Gaming Plus

Ryzen 5 2400G with the Stock Cooler

16gb DC 3200mhz Ram

Everything in my setup is running on their base clock speeds. Only the ram is on XMP Profile 2 for it to run on 3200MHz. Also the computer was doing nothing while i was recording the video just Chrome and Spotify.

Fan speeds will fluctuate with temperature of your cpu.

Use Ryzen Master and don't worry ?

ewwwww

OP: Try setting a custom fan curve in the motherboard bios, or get MSI app.

Keep the speeds at the higher temps mostly the same (60c+), but reduce everything below that by 10-15% fan speed to make it quieter.

Ryzen Master is the only application that accurately tracks Zen CPIs at idle. It was specifically coded for maximum accuracy with Ryzen and maximum control

So is this normal without those apps?

Fan speed fluctuations are normal. If there would be some physical balance issues with blades or unusual noises, those would be issue.

Same goes to other things too. System responses to programs asking for resources. You see this as CPU clock speed adjusting, fan speeds, voltages etc.

I have a 2700x and I'm using the factory Wraith Prism. It was driving me nuts changing RPM all the time. However, there was a setting in my BIOS to change the duration between fan speed changes. That, coupled with some tuning of the fan curve, and now it's a lot less abrupt. I changed the duration from 0.1 seconds to 0.3 seconds. I'm also using an MSI board, a B450, so it's possible you can manage those same settings.
