Recently decided to jump on the VPN wagon mainly for torrenting purposes. It's not something I want active all the time because of the speed loss and it seems to break any kind of online gaming. But even with VPN off, I'm getting disconnected continuously. Like every five minutes or so. The error windows gives me is the default gateway couldn't be reached. At this point I just want my internet back.

Edit: Also, I'm staying connected to the network, but now I'm getting the no internet access error

I don't know if the router is the culprit; my phone is also connected, among other devices, and the PC is the only device having these issues

Have you restarted your pc since you disabled it? Have you tried disabling any software (if you you are using software for your VPN). It could also be that the software made changes to your network devices and they didn't properly get changed back when you disabled it.

You could try going into Device Manager and seeing what is present under Network Adapters.  Honestly, you could probably just uninstall everything there and let Windows reinstall it all.

Well sumuma bish.

This will sound weird, but it might be worth trying to install another VPN from a different provider.  I believe several have free trial periods.  Perhaps their software/drivers/devices will behave more predictably and cure any problems during their install.

Or maybe run something like TCPOptimizer.  I believe it can also set settings back to default Windows settings.  But don't quote me on that as I haven't used it in a while.

Edit:

It does have a Windows Default setting, but I'm not sure if it will reset the settings which are giving you grief.
