iPhone 11 ANOTHER LCD?

So I just read a post put out my 7NEWS Melbourne (I'm in australia) about leaked iPhone stuff blah blah. I went down to the specs to have a look at the "Next Generation" to find ANOTHER LCD DISPLAY ON A FLAGSHIP DEVICE?

 

I mean this triggers me if it is true just based off the fact that companies like Samsung are getting OLED screen in a $199AUD (A20) phone?Like how is apple not being scolded by everyone about this?

 

 

 

PS. I'm not an apple user and am not in this for an apple vs android war just some reasons as to why you guys think that Apple thought this was a good idea.

My point isn't about the quality or anything like that but the fast that Apple is charging like 1000% more when the most used component isn't top of the line. I'm just disappointed

First up: those specs are fan-made and not necessarily real, although they are based on common rumors.

 

LCD isn't automatically worse.  It doesn't have the contrast ratio or low-light abilities of OLED, but it's potentially brighter, tends to be sharper at the same resolution and doesn't have burn-in issues.

 

Now, you might have an argument about the 828p resolution, but LCD by itself is fine.  And besides, the iPhone XR has good battery life -- I don't think Apple minds maintaining that advantage by using the same display one more year.

Good LCDs do exist. They lose out somewhat on contrast, but gain a lot in battery life and longevity (burn-in and color shifting), and Apple's LCDs tend to have very good color accuracy. For someone keeping a device well past the 2 year mark (more common as of late), you'll probably want to opt for an LCD over OLED.

I mean .. the XR has a 720p screen, 3GB ram, 12MP/7MP camera's, 2900 mah battery for 800€, yay apple. This is nothing new tbh, their harware will always be worse than 200€ android phones

Can we drop the false "bigger numbers are always better" argument, please?

 

You know damn well the XR has a high-quality screen (828p... hey, it matters), does more with 3GB than Android phones do with 4GB, that its rear camera (not so much its front) produces better photos than virtually every budget device, and that its battery life puts those of some more expensive phones to shame, let alone cheaper ones.  This isn't to say the XR is the ultimate value-for-money phone in its price class (OnePlus claims that title), but it kicks the absolute ass out of €200 Android phones.
