Question Y'all, I have been saving up (around 250$ a month) to buy this computer (for gaming and work, with a budget of around 2k)

and I should be able to buy it by Cyber Monday/Christmas, however I was just talking with my wife and I can continue saving up past Christmas if I want to buy better parts. Would it be worth it to save up for a couple extra months and get like a 2080 super and maybe a better cpu and a cooler for it, or is that parts list I referenced good enough that the upgrade wouldn't be significantly better for the extra cost?

You will want a 2080 for 1440p 155Hz, so sure save up if you can.

Considering you're playing at 1080p 150hz what you have specced out is more than sufficient, a 2080 super would be a waste of money to play at 1080p with.

 

Scratch that, I missed the 1440p monitor entirely. Yeah the 5700XT is good for 1440p upto around 100FPS depending on what game. I run one for 1440p 144hz and it's fine though it never reaches anywhere near 144FPS.

 

If you can try and get a decent cooler, more cooling means more performance and longer lasting parts.

Don't by cheap QLC junk like the 660p. Get a decent TLC SSD

I'd get better peripherals. Otherwise it looks pretty good.

However, it's completely pointless to post this now. Wait until you're actually ready to buy. Too many things change in that amount of time.

Not necessarily. Maybe he plays games with lesser requirements. You can also lower the settings, not everyone needs to play on Ultra, and really, High to Ultra isn't always a huge difference anyway, except for the much greater performance the lower setting provides.

The 5700xt plays 1440p at about 75fps in demanding games maxed out, how much quality needs to be lost to double the frame rate?

Who says you have to max out the frame rate? The difference between 60 and 100 is much more noticeable than 100 to 144.

Like I said. You don't lose much dropping to High from Ultra.
