My $980 gaming pc idea

TheJ

You can take off windows and get it for free from usb, but it will go a bit slower and lose a few features too, but still amazing @ 800 if taken off!

You've tried it wrong then. I've built loads of PCs and adding a windows license does not affect performance. Linus actually does a lot of testing with non activated windows, which LTT made a video addressing, and if their performance figures were affected by license activation, don't you think they'd have mentioned it, or other benchmarks done by tech tubers would say "windows activated vs unactivated"

You are called "rookie at PC building" after all, you've got a lot more systems to go through.

Explanation: corrupted windows install

Has nothing to do with license, seen it a million times. Windows 10 just sort of decays over time.

Wut?

Well the more people use it, the more clogged it gets with programs and files. Although, I notice it happens a lot faster with 10 than with 7. On top of the fact that windows 10 installed have a nasty habit of corrupting randomly, repair shops have all sorts of tales of people bringing their laptop in with a crapped out windows 10 bsod just from turning it on. It was even one of Louis Rossman's reasons why he uses a Mac.

Absolutely agreed. I myself witnessed this. Haven't seen any Windows getting crappy this fast. Did a lot of fresh Windows 10 installations, and as fas as I can tell, the responsiveness degrades much quicker than in any version of Windows I ever used. From Windows 98 to Windows 8 they never showed such lags. Even Vista which was the worst experiment Microsoft ever did, never showed me such rapid slow downs after a fresh installation.

Also a licensed Windows has no affect on performance whatsoever.

It does take away some features, but pretty useless ones eitherway
