Hi i am looking to put together a new pc but i have a comptability issue with my PSU does someone have a PSU that does meet the requirements for my motherboard?

My psu delivers 8 pin power but my motherboard has a 8 pin power and a 4 pin power connection.

I am looking to overclock.

You can get an adapter like this or choose another PSU

Im pretty sure that some of those mobos that require both 8 pin and 4 pin actually just need the 8 pin to function correctly, and MAYBE ur able to overclock. Do some research first tho, as im not sure. I remember this from an old post on here like 1 month ago, as someone had a similar issue with not having enough cables for the mobo, but it worked out at the end.

and if i overclock will it still be fine if i only connect the 8 pin power connecter

You will never exceed the minimum spec of a single 8 pin unless you have bucket of LN2 next to you and a lot of experience in extreme overclocking.

How so?

Well. 970 evo doesnt make sense, the PSU does not need to cost that much. There are other mobos with similar featureset at a cheaper price

Among a few other optimizations

Yeah it is clear in the manual for the mobo that it is optional and only really useful for extreme overclocking (LN2 or other subzero cooling) and even then there is no conclusive evidence that the 4 pin makes a difference.

Just use the 8pin. The second 4pin is optional.

If you want an additional EPS12V connector then hit up Seasonic and buy another cable from them, or check out third parties that do cables. It needs to be designed to work with your specific model of PSU (Seasonic Prime Ultra Platinum).

It only has an 8 pin and the motherboard needs 8 + 4

Motherboard doesn’t need both as far as I’m aware. Just the 8 pin will do for normal use (no ln2 OC /dry ice etc)
