Need a laptop for college

Im going into a computer science program, so i need something that wont cry and explode when i try and put Visual Studio on it, need enough ram for that, a good cpu (idk what a good cpu is for a laptop, i only use a desktop right now so everything looks really weak to me), i dont care about extra gimmicks like touchscreen or any of that, i just need something with enough power on a budget of under 1000 Canadian dollars

Weight doesnt matter to me, long as it fits in my bag, i dont care much, 16GB of ram would be nice, but its not a hard requirement, battery life should be minimum 3-4 hours, longer is better, and screen size i guess 15" or 17"

My reccomendation is the Zephyrus G. Im in the exact situation you are going to Uni to comp sci. The zephyrus G lasts about 6 hours of daily use such as watching videos using google drive etc from my experience. it has a large 76whr battery, a power efficient Ryzen 7 3750h and a GTX 1660 TI max-Q. With these specs, it can run any game. It has an optional 8gb version or 16gb version. A 60hz version or a 120hz version.

With ram, if the 16gb version is too expensive you can opt for a 8gb version and pay somebody else to install ram for you. I got a 8gb version and went to Memory Express to upgrade it to 24GB! Oh i also opted for th 60hz panel. didnt care much for the 120hz. take the 120 if its about the same price as a 60hz up to you.

Linus did a review of it!!:
