I want to set up ethernet in my room. But I'm 2 floors down from where the modem is so I was thinking of buying this tp link powerline adapter. Then connecting it to a gigabit switch then connect it to my pc, consoles, tv. I'm not sure if it would work don't know much about internet stuff it sounds like it would work but I wanted to ask to to make sure. thanks for helping out ?

Powerline should be the last option for a network connection. Is there no way to set up a cabled connection?

personally i cant recommend the TP-Link Adapters. Devolo worked much better for me :)

I can't do anything else but those but if you have any recommendations on what brands tell me

Dont know if „Devolo“ is a thing in the US/Canada but i used them often for our customers and they work very well. Connection is very stable. But Powerline Performance depends on your Home Electrical-Wiring very much.

we have that brand here but its expensive

Speeds might not be good. But it should work. If you want faster speeds you can look in to Moca, but that only helps if you have coax near your modem and near your PC.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

I have a D-Link set (DHP-701AVP) and it works well enough. TP-Link should be fine too. Realistically, the biggest factor is going to be the quality, type, and age of your electrical wiring in the building. Aluminum wiring is going to be really bad - as would be really old wiring in general (or poorly installed wiring).

Buy a set from somewhere with a return policy (such as a local business, or Amazon), and give it a try. Sure, running Ethernet is better, but that's not always practical.
