Larger SSHD --> Smaller SSD?

My g/f recently purchased a Crucial MX500 1TB and I'm goin to set everything up once it comes in on Sept. 5; but I was wonderin if it's able to delete a bunch of games/programs from the 2TB SSHD to make it less than 1TB overall, then transfer all of the info via ASUS Clone Drive to the 1TB drive or would I just have to start all over and do a fresh install?  Any useful info is appreciated; thanks!

You can do that, and it should work, but personally I always recommend a fresh install unless it's mission critical to have the dates transferred

It's not mission critical, so I'll just do a fresh install, then

Alright, you can get some weirdness from cloning drives, in my experience at least.

 

It's much much worse when swapping out platform and the like at the same time, but can be weird and buggy regardless. 

 

Plus it's also just nice to have a spring clean so to speak, especially for a SSD as a less full drive is usually better.

It's just a gamin comp w/nothin important on it, so I'll just do everything over while she uses her new gamin laptop until it's all finished

A fresh install is really fresh, everything wikl be fast and clean again, so I do recommend that generally, if possible. Cloning it over should work though, so if the install is only a few months old that would be fine too.
