I'm sorta debating on 2 or 3 1440p, + some new headphones + replacement psu + an o2 dac/amp.  When it's all said and done it'll be around ~2k (tax returns+ selling my current headphones+ current psu+ current monitors)

I did the math and I'll be getting around ~2400$ usd when it's all said and done, 3 1440p refurbished pb278q's are 1380$ from newegg, and I'm assuming since it's newegg the refurbished means it doesn't have any major flaws, or if it did, they've been fixed. (hence refurbished)

I'm also kinda thinking.. I'll already be spending that 2,000$+ usd, and I was wondering what kind of options I have on 4k 60 hz monitors.

The last thing I heard about the 4k scene was that asus 4k monitor with 60hz, but it was like... 3500$,   Have prices came down on any new releases that are 30+ inches, IPS, 60hz and 4k?  I'd be willing to spend up to ~1500-2500$ on one.

I've heard about some new dell/ asus stuff, but unsure what the names of them are, or if they're TN/IPS 60hz/ size of screen etc.

I believe @GoodBytes is the monitor expert on here, hopefully you're not busy and can help me out :)

Any help is greatly welcomed :)

It came down a fair bit, if we're talking about the same monitor.

Asus http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236338

Dell http://www.microcenter.com/product/426378/UP3214Q_32_UltraSharp_LED_UHD_Monitor

I don't know if 4k is the best idea, I know you have highly OC'd cards but pushing a 4k panel is some srs struggle.

oh wow that's quite a difference, I'm worried the PPI would be to much in a smaller than ~28 inch screen, and my windows/text would end up being tiny, although I found a 24'' ips 4k monitor on newegg from dell, only 1150$, I'm just not sure if it'd be a giant difference since the screen is so small with so many PPI

Yea, if you want to wait a little more. I could have sworn Linus or Slick showed some pretty affordable Dell 4k panels at CES.

I'd really like atleast 28" if not 30+ but I really don't wanna spend much over 2250$

Honestly at the 1300$ price of this: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&cs=19&sku=860-BBCD

I could get this+ still buy my headphones+amp+replacement psu, but I'm just worried 24" would defeat the purpose of that insane resolution :(

Asus and Dell should be releasing 4k 28" monitors soon for 799 and 699, respectively.

I would probably go for something bigger than 24" for 4k, yeah.

Worth noting that you have to run at full screen with the UP2414Q when gaming. So if you can't power the game, you're gonna be pretty SOL until Nvidia updates its driver set.

It's TN but that doesn't really mean that it looks bad. For such a price the small compromise on color reproduction is well worth it IMO.

I'm sure 2 overclocked 780's  should be able to handle every game at 4k in medium/high

Any other suggestions for monitors? I'm seriously considering maybe just getting a 4k monitor instead, but after having my 3 TN monitors, although they are butter smooth, the more I see IPS panels compared to TN I just don't feel like getting another TN.

Depends on the game, Crysis gets ~ 34, BF4 gets ~40 (that's on Ultra with 2 Ti's so I figure the same with regular 780's on high).

That's highs though. Didn't list the lows, which are much more important. I really wish people reviewing cards would do that more often!

IPS definitely reduces your options. Were you going with 3 monitors for surround gaming?

Also, do you think you can live with one monitor instead of two?

I find 2 is much, much more beneficial than 1. But it entirely depends what you're doing.

I could live with 1 monitor, but it'd have to be 4k.

And for the 1440p ones, after having 3 monitors for surround+ multitasking, I think it'd take a while to get used to having 2, (I sold one vg248qe already, and am currently using 2, it's kinda driving me nuts but I can deal with it for the most part)

If I did get 3 1440p I'd definately play some games on surround in 1440p, although it'd bring my system to it's knees on anything over medium probably.  I can live with 2 1440p though, although I like the symmetrical-ness of 3 screens compared to 2.

You're still looking at $3500 for a display though.

I'd go with the PB's for now, and upgrade to 4k when they're more mainstream. Especially if having only 2 monitors is driving you nuts.

I don't see why they would. They're a large, premium model. Not many people will buy that size display, and if they do they probably need it for business work and write it off as a business expense, so cost isn't as much of a consideration.

You might see $2,499 but that's still $2,800 all in.

Their 30" 1600p display is $1499. So, added size, resolution, etc...

The Dell 28inch 4K display is a TN panel, and can only output 30Hz image, not 60Hz like the other 4K display. It is intended as an affordable 4K solution for work puropses. If you wonder, you will notice a choppier Windows experience at 30Hz. You can experiment now and see what you'll get, by simply creating a custom resolution at 30 or 40Hz. It should not be a problem as you are lower your display setting.
