I was looking around for new parts for my budget pc, but couldn't find anything that was not overpriced. Like in the most popular electronic seller in my country, a pc with an old pentium or core duo costs about $300. And people still seem buy them. (Bought my prebuilt pc from another country for $400 and can probably sell it here for the same price even though it is used). Do you know any international seller (except for amazon) that has decently priced stuff (mostly graphics cards)?

Prices are adjusted based on country economics, consumer value of products (depending on the company or retailer pricing/profit model.. ahem: Apple, Google devices and Samsung), transportation cost, country tariff and country regulations (example: country forces a 10 year warranty on all products, so products needs to cost more as a result to cover the added warranty cost). If your country has a 500% (for example) import tax that affects computers, then you are in for some bad time in term of finding good prices.

Good points. But it seems more as sellers are trying to scam people than cost is being added to cover the full price...??

Lack of competition can also be an issue, yes. That lack of competition can be anywhere from suppliers of retail stores, or retail stores themselves.

So you may have many computer stores, but if you have only 1 company handling the supply of computer parts to retails, than they can dictate any price they want, forcing retailers to sale at a high price. A few supplier can also be an issue, as illegal duopolies or price fixing among a group of suppliers can be an issue.

A possible way to know, is if computers like Dell, Acer, and so on in your region cost less than custom build, then that is possible a sign of lack of competition in the supplier side. If they also cost a lot, then probably the problem is at the goverment level where they are charging high import fees or other regulatory measures that increases the product cost. If some major brands are not availible or some cost way less then others in your region, it could also be governmental regulations forcing high taxes to companies not established in your region.
