CPU cooler compatibility

Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth Z77

Are there any CPU coolers that won't fit on this motherboard (air+ water cooling solutions)?

As long as it doesn't hit your RAM and it fits in the case you shouldn't have any issues.

Not really, compatibility will come down to your case and ram.

you have a sabertooth yet you dont know how to tell if a hsf or aio watercooler wit mount to your mobo? Ya as long as its compatible with socket 1155 and your case you should be fine, depends how many sticks of ram you have and how high the heatspreaders are.

Once the cooler is socket 1155 compatible then you are good. If it blocks the RAM you chose is another question.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

If the cooler supports 1155 socket it will support 1150 because they are using the same mounting holes. Water cooling probably won`t block anything since the waterblock is the only thing that is attached to the cpu. If you are using an air cooler, I would check with the manufacturer`s website and read user reviews that have your motherboard to see if they are having any clearance issues with your ram.
