Hi!

So I am building new gaming PC. This is my first build ever.

1. Budget & Location

My budget is around 1160€ (without monitor)

2. Aim

Mainly for gaming. Games like Shadow of Tomb Raider, Assasin, but also Overwatch etc...

I would like to overclock, but nothing hardcore.

3. Monitors and peripherals

For monitor I'm thinking some 1440p. (I think with lower res. this build wouldn't make much sense). I have keyboard and mouse at home.

So I picked some parts. I already have some of those parts - SSD, RAM, CASE. I was kind of lucky with sales. For RTX 2070 I found one for 422€ on sale, thanks to RTX super realease. Is it actually worth it to buy Rtx 2070 at this price?

I can't choose motherboard and PSU. I was thinking something like Gigabyte X570 AORUS ELITE, but it might be overkill. And have no idea for PSU.

Can some one please help with choosing PSU and Motherboard?

I hope i provided enough information. I am totally open for changes and advices.

X570 aorus isnt overkill tho. i meant if you really want to cheap out you can go lower to X470 or B450. although since you can afford RTX i also assume you can afford the X570.

corsair Rmx 750W its good or Seasonic Focus Gold

Get any B450 motherboard and you'll be flying cliffs like a champ. Anything over $120 for motherboard for 3600 is overkill, you don't need it.

For that price a 2070 is okay, not great. If you waited a little longer you can have RX5700xt for the same price.

As for PSU, get Corsair VX550.

Hi,

here's the rest of the components you'll need.

Mind that the B450 motherboard either has to be updated by the manufacturer to accept Ryzen 3rd gen CPUs, or by your retailer. It does not have any BIOS flashback so if you can't find one that's been updated, look for TUF X570 and ditch the cooler.

The cooler is there because it's better than stock, but it's not necessary.

Corsair RMx 2018 is a fantastic line of quiet modular PSUs, and you will need to have as few cables as possible in that Meshify C case

The OP can do that with the cooler if he needs an HDD, and there really isn't a lot of space to stuff unused cables in that case. Plus it's a great PSU

Just modifying a little what @Mr.Humble did.

Like others said, you could wait for the 5700XT AIB models to come out and see how it compares against that RTX 2070 in terms of pricing but the RTX 2070 still isn't a bad card by no means.

here you guy bud. Completed list. Pricing is from Germany - not sure on your location. This motherboard has USB flashback option so it’s easy to update bios to newest for support with  3rd gen ryzen. As we are under budget you could grab a slight better cpu cooler like   @Mr.Humble mentioned

You're right, the cooler is just not required.

The PSU is also good investment, can go beyond this system like mine (5+ years). I just prefer more drive capacity than modularity.

I hadn't realized that the MSI B450 Tomahawk has BIOS flashback, but indeed it does. That means it's a better choice than the ASUS in case @Jinomi needs to update the BIOS before installation.

Just a side note, the RM550x is the same price as RM650x ?

It's not, for just gaming the stock Wraith Stealth is good enough, and honestly Ryzen 3rd gen doesn't overclock that well anyway. Depends on current needs and preference I guess - both the CPU cooler and HDD are things that can easily be picked up later as need and budget arises ?

Never a good idea to cheap out on a PSU though.

Honestly both look as excellent cards, so it's more a question of what monitor you want to pair with the GPU.

If you want a G-Sync monitor such as this Acer Predator, it will only have G-sync with Nvidia GPU.

Freesync monitors, like this other Acer, however, are often a bit cheaper, and can work with both (AFAIK) AMD and Nvidia GPUs.

However keep in mind that you will probably change the graphics card more frequently than the monitor.

All that being said 422€ for a 2070 is a good deal.

So Freesync monitors are "better", because of the graphics card variety compatibility?

Would suggest at least a 500gb ssd. More longevity than small ones like 128gb. There is no direct need for a max board with the 3600.

No I mean the amount of read/writes. Small ssd’s have shorter lifespan than bigger ones. And personally I don’t see the need for hdd’s With ssd prices having come low

No need for a store to update.

1. Mobo has USB flashback option

2. Get a boot kit sent from amd for free (and return)

problem solved

Nope. Just... nope. Not at all.

And even if you were making an argument that some games don'T benefit from being stored on an SSD (and some do), look at the price/capacity proposition. Bigger SSDs are just plain better deal.

2 hours ago, Stormseeker9 said:

That's also a major concern with small SSDs. Sure, if you're building an office PC that will just have the OS and programs installed once there's no need to worry, but when you're swapping games in and out all the time it will start eating into the TBW limit.

Finally, game files are BIG. Metro Exodus itself has somewhere around 100GB

2 hours ago, Stormseeker9 said:

They're still pretty useful if you have a NAS connected to a Gigabit network where you don't benefit from SSD speed, for large media libraries, and for backups, although I have my backup set up to actually create on my second SSD and then move it to the HDD. Saves time ultimately.

definitely the Tomahawk and B450 is good enough for that CPU.
