a headset for a gamer and an editor

Hi.

I an editor and a gamer. I need a headphone or headset for both needs.

*When it comes to sound quality, editing is more important.

*I also need a great and clear mic for gaming.

*I don't want a separate mic because of space.

*I'm OK with the combination of headphone and boom. or any other suggestion

*Budget is 125 USD. I might be ok with higher prices in certain options.

*Last of all, surround sound will be appreciated but it's not very important.

*Being comfortable is really important.

For good audio at a good price, get the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x or ATH-M40x. Mic wise, get an Antlion Modmic to attach to your headphones.

You can get these Sony Studio Monitor HP's.  Most studios still use these.

I've been using the m50x for about 2 years now. And well, some audiophiles will say it's just a piece of extremely overhyped equipment and I would agree to a very small degree. But I don't think it's bad for this price point though. 

The best thing about these are the highs and treble and for the mids, I think not the most even but still good. It's pretty good for monitoring audio or vocals. The bass is kind of overpowering which is the thing I don't like about this. But when you're using an EQ to personalize the frequency ranges according to your preference, it becomes way better for listening to music. 

 

The m40x is flatter which some people may like or hate. 

But the worst thing about the m50x is its comfort. You 're probably not gonna wear them for too long especially if you live in a hot environment.

If it has to be a headset, consider the Cooler Master MH751 or MH752 (the only difference is the USB soundcard that comes with the MH752).

Those are the Takstar Pro82 rebranded + a microphone added.
