13 years? yeah.

Better backup asap and use the drive separately.

Raid 0 is not worth it since SSD mainstreamed.

Get a 1tb drive and put everything there.

a hard disk can do 10 years sure, i have here one in use since 2008

but the hard disk after so long time in use becomes weird, noisy and ready to die spectacularly

yes, a backup is important, but is more important to remove such old drives to avoid a bad surprise

My girlfriends computer has a raid 0 of 2 300gb hard drives that her dad made for her and she says they've been used daily for the past 13 years. Is it surprising that they are still functioning perfectly?

13 years!? Wow, I have not yet had a drive last more than 3 years. That being said, make sure that the drive's important data is already backed up since there could be a failure of the drive and age makes it more probable/likely.

but they usually last around 4 years for 24/7 operation

Most consumer grade computer hard drives are not designed to run 24/7, and this only can be said for NAS or server grade drives that are specifically designed for high-vibration, high heat, and 24/7 operation.

Hope this information post was helpful  ?,
