Ultrawide Gaming Monitor

Ryan Ras

Hi all,

I am thinking about getting an ultra wide gaming monitor such as the LG 34GK950F-B 34" 21:9 Ultragear WQHD. I play quite a few different games but mainly WoW, Warframe, Forza and other RPGs.

Does anyone have experience playing these games on a monitor like this and is it too much/too big? I currently have a 24in 1440p monitor so would be a big jump.

Next point, I dont have a desktop at this point in time, I am using a gigabyte aero 15 with a gtx1060 and an i7 8th gen I believe but it could be a 7th. I am thinking about getting a desktop and will probably get one in the next 6 months if not sooner. I'm not sure that the laptop would be able to handle the monitor at all so could make more sense to get the desktop first then the monitor, I dont really mind if my framerates are a little lower as itll probably be 2 or 3 months max between the monitor and desktop purchase.

Any feedback would be really appreciated.

I would head for your new build first, the 1060 won't do very well with something  as demanding as the display you mentioned

I use an ultrawide though, 1440, 34" 100hz- have played Warframe and Forza on it and it's awesome. Very much recommend

Grab a desktop first, I concur.  I would recommend a 1070Ti or better for 1440p UW.    Especially if you want to push into the triple digits for fps.

But damn I love my Curved UW.  Can't see going back to a 16:9 at all.

Playing everything from MMORPG's to FPS to Anno to Civ to Borderlands, etc.  Best PC purchase I ever made in terms of sheer increase in gaming experience.

Would you recommend a 34" ultrawide over a 32 inch 16:9?
