Ryzen 3000 BIOS question

Hi, I have recently bought a ryzen 5 3600 and a MSI b450 Gaming Plus motherboard. The motherboards website says that it supports 3rd generation ryzen, but I think I heard somewhere that if I don't update the BIOS my CPU won't be running at its full potential. Is this true or am I good without updating the BIOS?

You have to update the bios on last gen boards

iirc that mobo has bios flashback

If not send AMD a warranty request for a bootkit

It won't run at all, but the BIOS update process is very simple. Flash bios button on the motherboard that can update without a CPU or ram installed, you just have to have a flash drive with the new BIOS version on it. MSI has a very handy tutorial for this feature on YouTube.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

MSI and Asus both have this "USB BIOS Flashback" feature. Would love to see more board partners adopt this. I picked up an Asrock B450 Fatal1ty board about a week ago and had to wait nearly a week to get an AMD bootkit in the mail to flash my BIOS. Now I've got to go through the additional hassle of mailing the loaner CPU back.
