Hey everyone!
I have been trying to get my system stabilized after all these BIOS updates and chipset drivers, but it seems there's still some tweaking that needs to be done.
Here is what I am running:

Ryzen 9 3900x (stock cooler)
ASUS x570-E Gaming BIOS version 7010
RTX 2080ti
Windows 10 Pro ver. 1809

I don't know if I should be concerned that I got a 93C temp on cinebench
Running CINEBENCH R20: ~93C
Idle temps: ~42C to 50C
Minor load temps: ~55C
Gaming: ~70C to 80C

Those don't seem too terrifying (though cinebench is questionable..), and voltages seem to be fine, ranging from the 1.033-1.464V on Ryzen balanced. I don't really freak out too much over the voltages because AMD_Robert on AMD Reddit has stated normal operation range is 0V - 1.5V

But the biggest problem I think I am running into is clocking the RAM at its rated 3600mhz speed; as right now it is defaulting to 2133mhz.

I am aware that you have to change the settings in the BIOS in order to do this.. however I have already failed twice at doing so... even prior to intensive research and such. What I did was increase the frequency in the BIOS to 3600mhz, changed voltage from 1.2V to 1.35V and the times to 19-20-20-40. What surprises me however, is that in the ASUS bios there is NO option for XMP even when I tried using the search feature to look for it.(The manual also doesn't mention xmp)

So each time I tried these changes, my computer failed to start and I had to clear out the BIOS CMOS in order for it to even boot. So I am trying to avoid doing that for a 3rd time, and am asking for assistance.
I have tried DRAM calculator, but it really didn't tell me much from what I saw, I have already tried those values that it showed me.

Should I use Ryzen Master for the RAM timings?

Many thanks.

Try checking the product page and/or the included manual for your motherboard.

Further more, keep in mind that the 3900x officially supports 3200mhz only. Try using those settings, see if it works.

Motherboard: Asus X570-E

SSD2: Samsung MX500 500GB

I'm using the ASUS x570-E gaming.

Hmm, I am aware of that, but I thought you could get past that somehow with OC? Because Ryzen 7 2700x only supports up to 2933mhz, yet there are people getting 3200mhz. Just curious on if the same can be achieved with the 3900x.

It's not called XMP in Asus bios, it's called D.O.C.P.

Thanks a lot for that! I don't quite know how I missed that. But question, if I enable D.O.C.P, would I still have to put the voltage up to 1.35v from 1.2? And would I still need to insert the timings manually?

Thanks to you both.

Try stability testing on stock settings + D O C P first, before you try to make manual adjustments.

Wish i could help you out, more. I actually have the exact same motherboard + CPU.... but the CPU has been delayed to the 16th August

It should load the speed and timings, however voltage on XMP(DOCP) isn't as reliable, I usually set voltage manually. If DOCP profile doesn't work, you may have to back timings manually, but from everything I've seen, XMP(DOCP) compatibility on Ryzen 3rd gen.

Ok! That sounds good, thank you very much! I will try to use D.O.C.P and only change the voltage manually to 1.35v as marked on the g.skill product page. This also means I can leave everything else on auto correct? Including the Frequency? Apologies if my questions are redundant, as I'm more intermediate than expert at these sort of things.

You actually have the same motherboard? Dude that's awesome. But yea, I hear those delays are relentless, and newegg/amazon are still out of stock on these new Ryzen Cpu's. I was lucky enough to see when newegg was in stock by browsing one day before work, then it went out just 5min later lol. Though I'll tell you it's worth the wait :) The 3900x is amazing.

Okay, So I have tried doing what both of you suggested; however it has failed like the other attempts. Even enabled DOCP that autofilled all the information to g.skill recommendations perfectly (even 1.35V). But when I rebooted the system, it turned itself on and off 3 times in a row before reverting back to its previous 2133mhz settings.

So I am at quite the loss on what to do next. As DOCP autofilled all the values correctly from what I saw. Should I just re-enable DOCP and set the frequency to 3200mhz instead of 3600mhz?

I'm at a loss. Hopefully i won't have the same issue.

1. Try using only 1 stick of RAM, test both

2. Test using different sets of RAM

3. If possible, test the CPU and RAM in a different motherboard

Get in touch with Asus customer support. Check if you properly updated the chipset etc etc. Like, check everything you can reasonably check.

bump the voltage on the ram up to 1.4 just in case, use a small offset of -.05v or -.1v for the cpu to lower temps.

Hmmm. I think after quite the bit of searching; so far I am finding that a higher timing than CAS16 and above 3200mhz causes a lot of problems of setting your RAM to run as specified on the Ryzen platform?

Do you think that this may be an issue considering the 3600mhz and CAS19 I have currently?

Unfortunately, this is a fresh/first build of mine, so I have no other RAM and motherboards to test with. The only thing I can think of is trying out that 1.4V RAM and trying 1 stick out. I am most certain I have updated everything correctly, as I double checked the BIOS version itself in the BIOs, and the new AMD chipset drivers were released today. (This issue was happening prior to the chipset update)

I still have time to put in a full refund for the RAM as I bought it only 12 days ago. Think I should try out a 3200mhz kit with lower latency if all else fails? Because I didn't get high-end RAM only for it to run at 2133mhz lol.

**Edit** Just tried the 1.4V didn't work either; same goes for the 1 stick of RAM...

Hi.

Have you updated your BIOS?

if not try AGESA 1.0.0.3.AB - worked for me.

similar situation - BIOS reset to 2133 when enabling XMP - 3200.

Yes I do have updated BIOS, however I'm not quite sure how I would get this on ASUS; as the versions of my bios are listed here. https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/ROG-Strix-X570-E-Gaming/HelpDesk_BIOS/

Version 7010, which is what I updated it too. I've tried looking for this 1.0.0.3.AB but can't find it anywhere? I actually see a thread with a similar problem:

https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?111910-AMD-3700X-on-Crosshair-VII-board-fails-to-post-if-3200-MHz-Ram-set-over-2400-MHz

Any ideas?

So I found out on some ASUS motherboards that they're in the process of stabilizing/releasing 1.0.03.AB.. So I guess I shall wait for that, and if I still can't get the RAM up to speed, I think I'll just return the current RAM I have and settle for 3200mhz with lower latency.

ok so after a couple days of research I set xmp profile and gave the ram more voltage instead of 1.35 I set it to 1.5 and everything seems to be working. if I have any problems I will keep you updated. Samsung b die fix.
