The price is about right.  Alto you can find cheaper ones.  Only thing is the ram is only 8GB ,, that is your bottleneck.  That CPU is fine for a surface pro, it is not like you wanna send someone to the moon with it ya know.  Also if 13.5 is good size for you,, pull the trigger.  Alto I personally don't trust newegg.  They can send you refurbished sh*T.  Very shady company which Ive known for about 20 years. Its here in LA  ,, 30 minutes away from where I live hehe.

Also the storage is only 250GB ,, I don't know what you plan on doing with this surface pro but 250GB is no good.  It should be at least 500GB.  So storage will be a issue just like the RAM.  Honestly the price seems normal, I don't believe them when they say sale and sh*T ,, They are liars and what not.

Meh, it's an i7, but only 2 cores 4 threads.

Seeing as you can get new laptops with a 4 core 8 thread i5 8250u, I would find this hard to recommend (unless the Iris Pro graphics and form factor and such are really appealing to you).

SSD and RAM is not impressive either (as well as non-upgradable, right?)

It's difficult to give you a yes or no, as it's less about pure specs, but more about the sort of device it is.

A truck has more horse power than a bicycle, but a bike may be more convenient to you.

The surface laptop is a bike, no impressive stats, but good form factor.

I would probably look a bit further at the current laptop offerings to get a good idea if you can get something better for yourself.

Ya boolsh*T 1600 bucks.  Save 948 bucks that is what I mean about newegg. This thing is not freakin 1600 US dollars.  More like maybe 800 bucks and no sale.  I wouldn't touch this.  Do some research on surface pro and get a good one for 500 to 800 bucks.  Ya original price 1600 dollars is total BS.  Do not pull the trigger.

You can only use MS APPs with ease.  But larger or real pro apps the SP will suffer and what not.

Thanks for the input guys. I wouldn’t be doing anything crazy with it. Just normal web browsing and video consumption etc. I did think the low core count wasn’t all that great. The ram should be fine for what I’d be doing as well as the storage. It seems like I can find something better for a similar price though.
