Thermaltake Commander C series (C35) Mod and review

Boby

As i could not find a decent high air flow case with more then 2 3.5 inch HDD support, i decided to give a chance at Thermaltake Commander C series - C35 case.

The review

The case overall is not bad, with the exceptions of the fans, they are terrible.

The case altho advertised as Gigabyte ARGB compatible, its not, at least not with any x570 motherboards as the case cable is 3 pin VDG, while the motherboard use 4 pin VDG connector, altho i managed to make it work, its worth mentioning.

The User's Manual is full of errors, for example the screws marked as motherboard are not for the motherboard, they are for hard drives, and so on.

The 200mm fans are rated to be at 29 dBA but they are at least 50 dBA, not controllable, fixed RPM with proprietary connector that you can't connect to anything else then the build in controller. If you are not deаf, you are not going to like the noise those fans make, its like little jet engine, i have never heard anything louder then this. The temps are good, but for that noise level they better be. Furthermore, the fans are rated for only 30k hours, witch is very very low, especially compared to Noctua's 150k rated hours.

The "legs" of the case has some rubber rings that fall of 2-3 times after moving the case on the carpet.

If you are not willing to change the fans, and don't care about the RGB its ok, altho the price its not ok if you going to change fans.

The Mod

I replaced the two 200mm stock fans with 3x 120mm Noctua NF-12 wich altho don't provide as much air as the 2x 200mm fans, they provide enough for good cooling for my R5 3600 and RTX 2070 super all air cooled at barely audible noise level.

I have also noticed that the top dust filter is entirely open, so some of the cool air coming from the front is escaping from the top before reaching the CPU and GPU, so i added some cardboard to block some of it.

I hope this will be good information for people considering this case series.

All TT cases  with aRGB controller sucks. They dont stated anywhere that RPM is fixed, so they basically scam people, cause i will never buy jet engine case!!! I wrote 10 times to TT asking for addiotional fan controller for free cause i didnt find on their product page info about fixed rpm. They ofc ignored my mails. So i decided to reach as much relevant youtubers as possible, so they can mention this major flaw in their videos!!! People should avoid this new series of aRGB TT cases as plague. Im hoping my voice will spread just as little to make some people dont buy this shit of a cases. Best regard.
