Weird thought on cooling

Is it possible to use freon instead of water.

Freon is much cooler,  its whats used to cool fridgerators and freezers

I'm not sure what role it plays and in what stage of the cooling.  I think it might be what cools off coils that then has air run over them, but I don't think the Freon is meant to actively cool something much above ambient temps.

You should look up how a fridge works and that will probably answer your question.

it could work but its much easier to buy a good watercooling settup xD you could modify a refrigerator engine ( dont know the term for it ) and have it trasner all the cooling to a block but you would be dealing with frostover

In short, nope.

Long answer: By "freon", I'm going to presume you mean "refrigerant". And more specifically I'll presume you mean R-134A, which is commonly used in cars and readily available in automotive stores. Aside from the issues just trying to handle the stuff, most refrigerants aren't liquid at room temperature. R-134A - or 1,1,1,2-Tetrafluoroethane - has a boiling point of -15F. They are instead kept under heavy pressure inside the refrigerant system so they don't boil off nearly as easily.

If you want a refrigerant-based cooling system for your CPU, look into phase-change systems.

Refrigerants are used because fridges and freezers work with phase change cooling. It would be pointless to use that stuff in a regular pc water cooling loop. Water has higher heat capacity.

If you want.phase change cooling you can buy ones for PCs for about $1-2k, those work with refrigerants like a fridge or air conditioner.
