Gtx 980ti

generic AM3+ motherboard (didnt really put much thought into it)

750w modular power supply

16gb ddr3 ram

500gb ssd (WITH OS)

1tb sshd (for games)

peripherals:

24" 1080p asus monitor

my custom HIFI sound system i already had.

Wanting to upgrade it but not sure what to do as i cant upgrade to ryzen. was offered an fx 9590 for £50 and was very tempted as my cpu does need a boost but i think my ram and storage needs a boost too so not sure honestly.

9590 will screw up the board. Get a 8350/8320 or get a new board with the 9590

Honestly, at this point, I wouldnt bother putting more money into this system. Every penny spent on a system that old is wasted. Any AMD FX CPU in this day and age won't cut it.

I would replace Motherboard, CPU and RAM. Your GPU, PSU, CASE, SSD, etc. can all be transferred over. 980Ti is still a great GPU (if have it myself)

Something like this: For $330 you'll basically have a brand new PC again.

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor  ($199.00 @ B&H)
Motherboard: ASRock - B450M-HDV R4.0 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard  ($64.89 @ OutletPC)
Memory: G.Skill - Sniper X 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory  ($72.99 @ Newegg Business)
Total: $336.88

If money is really tight, you can even get an upgrade like this: The Ryzen 2600 is amazing value for the money right now!

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor  ($119.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: MSI - B450M PRO-M2 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard  ($59.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: G.Skill - Aegis 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory  ($52.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $232.97
